Repairing a Hospital Door in Queens: Heavy-Duty Piano Hinge Installation
Hospitals require durable and reliable doors to maintain security, privacy, and safety for patients and staff. When a hospital in Queens experienced a malfunctioning door due to broken hinges, NYC Doors and More was called in to provide a professional repair solution.
The Problem: Broken Hinges Compromising Functionality
The hospital’s door was becoming difficult to open and close properly, causing inconvenience and a potential safety hazard. Upon inspection, we found that the existing hinges were worn out and no longer able to support the heavy door. Given the high-traffic nature of hospitals, a long-lasting and robust solution was needed.

Our Solution: Installing a Heavy-Duty Piano Hinge
To restore full functionality and extend the lifespan of the door, we removed the broken hinges and replaced them with a heavy-duty piano hinge. Unlike standard hinges, a piano hinge runs the full length of the door, distributing weight evenly and providing enhanced stability. This upgrade ensures smoother operation and increased durability, essential for high-use areas like hospitals.
The Repair Process
- Assessment: Our team carefully examined the door and its frame to determine the best repair approach.
- Hinge Removal: We removed the damaged hinges while ensuring no further structural damage occurred.
- Precision Installation: A heavy-duty piano hinge was installed along the entire length of the door for maximum support.
- Testing and Final Adjustments: After installation, we tested the door multiple times to confirm smooth operation and secure closure.
The Result: A Reliable, Long-Lasting Repair
With the new piano hinge in place, the hospital’s door now functions seamlessly, reducing maintenance concerns and enhancing accessibility for staff and patients. This repair highlights our expertise in handling commercial and institutional door issues with precision and efficiency.
