Replacing An Old Fire Exit Door With A New Fire Rated Door

The old exit door was scraping the floor when opened and needed to be replaced. NYC Doors And More technicians installed a new fire-rated door, as shown in the video. Now, the door opens and closes smoothly and safely.

Fire-rated Exit Door Violating NYC Fire Code

The images attached show a door that was violating NYC fire code because it was installed to open into a boiler room with hazardous materials inside.

To make the door adhere to the fire code, NYC Doors and More technicians removed the door and flipped it so that it would open outward, away from the boiler room.

Additionally, we removed the doorknob and installed a panic bar to allow for easy egress in case of emergency.

While other companies may have installed a new door altogether in order to charge more money, we were able to make this building safer and save the management company money by using their old door as well.

Steel Fire Door Paint

There was a requirement to paint the door black. The door was painted in a water-based semigloss black color.

Here is how the door looks after having been painted:

* Tip

It is best to apply a minimum of two coats to ensure a consistent finish that will last. Make sure each coat is completely dry before adding another.
