In-Ground Swing Door Operator

The swing door operator is the perfect solution for automating heavy doors to meet accessibility regulations, while maintaining a modern architectural aesthetic.

Swing Door Operator

NYC Doors and More was called to address a problem with an oversized swing door at Tiffany in SoHo. This door is very heavy, so they are generally paired with an in-ground assist-opener system. What this means is, when the door is pushed slightly to open, it automatically moves the rest of the way (such that the operator does not need to push with heavy force).

In this case, the door controller and motor were non-functional, making the door virtually impossible to open. NYC Doors and More Technicians supplied and installed a high-tech Dorma controller for the in-ground operator. We then wired and programmed it, reinstalled the chain back on the door, and sealed the motor cover plate. Now the door and in-ground assist-opener are fully operational.

Automatic Swing Door Operators

Exterior swing doors are often exposed to wind loads and pressure differentials that make controlling doors difficult. The  software recognizes and compensates for wind loads during door opening and closing cycles, making the doors not only safer but more effective in controlling the building climate as well.

What is a Door Operator?

A door operator is a device that operates a swing door for pedestrian use. It opens the door automatically, maintains the door in the open position for a set duration, and subsequently allows it to close.

Whether you need a door operator for ADA compliance, to improve traffic flow, or simply to heighten your customer’s experience, there are numerous ways in which it can improve your business’ operation.
